Don't Jump

Don't Jump by Roshan Menon

"Yea! It is always my fault isn't it? He is always the angel!"I yelled and slammed the door at the same time. I kicked my bed and sat on my chair and looked at my book. I read through the poems that I had written. It wasn't that bad but I loved to write ghost stories even more. I was a horror junkie. Loved it, lived it. I jumped on my bed and took my laptop and started streaming through some blogs about weird sightings and ghost hunters. These things amused me.

It was about one in the morning and I woke up and saw my laptop. I had slept off for about two hours. I looked outside my balcony. I had forgotten to close the window. The curtains were being blown in by the wind. I walked towards the window to close it.

I saw Sarah, my neighbour, sitting at her balcony. Her head was lying on her hands and she wore a long white gown. "Cool dress Sarah,"I told her. No response. Weird, it wasn't like Sarah. I didn't care and wanted to get back to bed. Before I could turn around, Sarah suddenly stood up straight. I thought she was going to answer me.

Yet the unthinkable happened. Sarah jumped form the balcony onto the ground face first. No words could describe my reaction. I was shocked, stunned. I screamed,"Sarah! Are you ok?" No response. I could see the blood oozing out from her body and formed a huge puddle of blood. The sight was revolting. I took out my handphone and decided to call the ambulance.

As I dialled the number, a chill ran down my spine. I turned around to see Sarah's body on the ground but instead I saw her body floating back up to her balcony to the upright postion she was before she jumped. She was drenched in blood and I could see that she had broken her neck.Blood was dripping from her hair. My face turned pale, when she jumped from the balcony again.

Even more blood was oozing out of her body and she looked dead. My head started to get light as I tried to call the police. I became nausea. I leaned against the balcony carefully to see the body but it wasn't there. I looked around. It wasn't anywhere. I decided to run back into my room and hide under the covers. But when I turned around. her body was standing right in front of me all dripping with blood all over my balcony. I screamed my heart out but the body suddenly leaned against me and I fell of the edge of balcony to my death. Both our bodies lay there in a pool of blood, partially disfigured.

I woke up from my sleep. It was all a dream. My laptop was still on.I checked myself. I was still ok. No blood on me. I was thankful for that. I got up and saw my window open and the curtain was blowing in. I went to close it when I saw Sarah on her balcony in a long white gown. I reluctantly said,"Good night Sarah." And she replied in her normal sweet voice. The wind was blowing in my face as Sarah headed in her room. I felt something under my foot. I moved my foot to see what it was.

It was a drop of blood under my foot. My hands started shaking. And when another drop dripped on my foot, I screamed.
