What else can be said about a team with such amazing history. The managers, players and drama over the last 50 years has filled the memories of fans of the football club.
Yet, the story so far this season has been somewhat a a fairy tale start with disasters occurring here and there. After yesterday's game against Newcastle which they lost 3-0 and the slip up on New Years against Blackburn it's hard to believe that this was the team that won their last two games in 2011 with 5-0 victories a piece. This is not the same team which beat Arsenal 8-2 either.
Question is, what happened? Manchester City happened. They came, they saw and they conquered the Theater of Dreams. After that, everything changed.
United need to step it up a notch before the game against City this weekend. Or else they're in for a real beating they will never forget.
What United are missing? An influential midfielder: Paul Scholes. The rock solid defensive pairing of Ferdinand and Vidic. The deadly precision of an instinctive striker like Berbatov last season. Edwin Van Der Sar at the goal. And a regular right back.
What United need to do? Sir Alex has to realize that he has to spend in the transfer market this month to boost up the squad. A midfielder and a player to replace Gary Neville at the right back.
On my view about this Sunday's game against City, if United don't do anything quickly, it's going to be City's game to lose.
